Equally at home in the choral ensemble and on the opera stage, Boston-based soprano Jennifer O’Brien graduated from Westminster Choir College, where she sang with the Grammy-nominated Westminster Williamson Voices. With the Williamson Voices, she performed Arvo Pärt’s Kanon Pokajanen in the Temple of Dendur, as part of MetLiveArts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  With the Westminster Symphonic Choir, she performed in the chorus of Handel’s Messiah with the Philadelphia Orchestra, under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and with the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Jonathan Cohen. While at Westminster, she appeared as Fatmé in André Grétry’s Zémire et Azor, covered the role of Zweiter Knabe in Die Zauberflöte, sang excerpts of Le nozze di Figaro as Cherubino, and performed the Act II finale of Die Fledermaus as Adele with the Westminster Festival Orchestra at the Princeton Events Center.

In the 2021-2022 season, she appeared as Venus in Orpheus in the Underworld with Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, noted as “sultry” and “bored, despite having all men at her beck and call” (bigislandmusic.net), and performed Amore/Valletto in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with Chicago Summer Opera, directed by kt shorb. In the Boston area, she is an active choral artist with Trinity Church in Copley Square, and with the all-professional choir at King’s Chapel. She received a Master of Music from Boston Conservatory, studying with Kathryn Wright.
